Paul Robbins is the Director of Elite Performance for STATS LLC. He is responsible for program analysis and design on live data tracking systems for professional team. Paul collects data from all 30 NBA teams.  He is currently developing new models for tracking Real time training loads, performance training based on energy systems demands, and performance programming based on game data for the NFL, NHL and college sports.  Paul is on the USTA Sport Science Committee and is a NHL Combine Exercise Physiologist Paul developed the cardio programs and VO2 assessment programs for Athletes’ Performance (EXOS) and their new corporate division, Core Performance. He worked with professional athletes from the NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB and MLS.  Paul has consulted for Intel and Google in the corporate market, as well as worked extensively with Adidas to develop MiCoach®.

Jim Malone is a Strength and Conditioning Coach that brings a unique and diverse background of just over 25 years of experience. A proud member of the National Strength & Conditioning Association, credentialed as a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, a Registered Strength & Conditioning Coach with distinction and a USA Weightlifting Club Coach. Jim has spent the last 18 years with MLB, including stints with the Indians, Royals, Padres, and most recently with the '13 and '14 NY Mets. Prior to his career in MLB, Jim spent seven years as a college football, wrestling and strength coach. Active in the advancement of the profession within MLB, he has served his peers the last six years as President of the Professional Baseball Strength and Conditioning Coaches Society (PBSCCS). Appointed by the Office of the Commissioner of MLB, Jim has also served on the MLB Strength and Conditioning Advisory Committee, MLB Medical Advisory Committee and MLB Electronic Medical Records Advisory Committee. Selected by MLB to serve as National League Strength and Conditioning Coach for the 2013 All-Star Game, and voted by his fellow coaches as the 2012 Nolan Ryan MLB Strength Coach of the Year. Jim has recently been appointed to the advisory committee for the athlete management software company “CoachMe+”, and member of the 2015 class admitted to the “Buffalo Weightlifting Hall of Fame”. His own competitive career has been resurrected, competing as a Master's Weightlifter, winning the gold medal for his class in the 2012 California State Games, the '12, '13 and '14 American Masters Championships and the silver in the '14 Masters Pan-Am Championships.

Richard Shaughnessy enters his 17th season as an assistant coach with the Troy University football staff, and as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the 17 intercollegiate athletic teams at the University. As a testament to Shaughnessy’s success as a strength and conditioning coach, he was inducted as a Master Strength Coach by the College of Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association in May of 2009. This is the highest honor awarded for individuals in the field of strength and conditioning. A certified strength and conditioning specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Shaughnessy has been instrumental in developing stronger, quicker and more durable athletes at Troy University. He is a certified member of the College Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, the National Association of Speed and Explosion and is a club coach for the United States Weightlifting Federation. He is the state director for both the NSCA and NASE. Shaughnessy has been involved with powerlifting for the past 32 years, and has spent the last 22 working with human performance. Shaughnessy also works with student-athletes after the conclusion of the college playing careers, helping many to move on to the professional level. Over the past 13 years, more than 80 of Shaughnessy’s student-athletes have had the opportunity to compete at the next level following the conclusion of their careers at Troy University. In October of 2003, Shaughnessy was selected by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as one of 18 “Elite” Strength Coaches in the world. The inaugural program created by the NSCA honors achievements and competencies of strength and conditioning specialists by assessing their practical and applied experience, along with their interests and contributions to the profession of strength and conditioning.

David Tenney enters his second season as Sports Science & Performance Manager after spending the previous five seasons as fitness coach. He is one of Major League Soccer’s most respected and progressive minds in sports science. Prior to joining Sounders FC, Tenney served as both fitness and goalkeeper coach in Kansas City in 2007 and 2008, helping the Wizards reach the postseason both years. He also holds an ‘A’ license from the Czech Republic F.A. and NSCAA 'Premier' Diploma. Dr. William A. Sands is a sport scientist, trained in exercise physiology and biomechanics.  He is an Associate Member of Sheffield Hallam University’s Centre for Sport and Exercise Science and a former professor at East Tennessee State University. He recently served as the National Director of Education for the National Strength and Conditioning Association in Colorado Springs, CO. He has served as the Director of the Monfort Family Human Performance Research Laboratory at Colorado Mesa University. At the U.S. Olympic Committee in Colorado Springs, he was Recovery Center Leader, Head of Sport Biomechanics, and Engineering and Senior Physiologist. He has over 40 years of experience in Olympic sports. Dr. Sands has served as an associate professor at the University of Utah’s Department of Exercise and Sport Science and Co-Director of the Motor Behavior Research Laboratory with adjunct appointments in Bioengineering and Physical Therapy. He was the Department Chair of Exercise Science & Sports Medicine at California Lutheran University and Director of the Human Performance Laboratory. Other positions include: Director of Research and Development for USA Gymnastics, Scientific Committee of the International Gymnastics Federation, and Chair of the United States Elite Coaches Association for Women’s Gymnastics. He has written 11 books, over 25 book chapters, received over a quarter million dollars in grants and contracts, published over 300 articles on sport performance, over 35 professional awards. He is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine, certified as an Athlete Recovery Specialist, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Wilderness EMT, and has several certifications in emergency communications, emergency medicine, and search and rescue. Dr. Sands is a former All-American, MVP, Co-Captain, and NAIA Gymnast of the Year. He was also a World Championship coach in gymnastics and produced several Olympians, more than a dozen national team members, and several World Championship Team members.

Chris Joyner is the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Toronto Blue Jays. He graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science. Chris coached high school baseball, football and weight lifting for two years prior to joining the Blue Jays as a strength and conditioning intern for their Syracuse (AAA) and Auburn (Short-A) clubs. He was named Minor League Strength and Conditioning coordinator in January 2003. Chris was named as Major League Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Milwaukee Brewers in December 2006 and would spend the next four seasons in that role before returning to the Blue Jays organization as Assistant to the Minor League Coordinator for the 2011 season. He spent the 2012-13 as the Assistant Minor League Strength and Conditioning Coordinator before accepting Major League position for the 2014 season. Jim Stoppani received his doctorate in exercise physiology with a minor in biochemistry from the University of Connecticut. Following graduation, he served as a postdoctoral research fellow in the prestigious John B. Pierce Laboratory and Department of Cellular and Molecular Physiology at Yale University School of Medicine, where he investigated the effects of exercise and diet on gene regulation in muscle tissue. He was awarded the Gatorade Beginning Investigator in Exercise Science Award in 2002 by the American Physiological Society for his groundbreaking research. Kevin Boyle graduated from Syracuse University (SU) in ‘03 with a BS degree in Psychology and a minor in Exercise Science, and completed his MS Degree in Exercise Science in May of 2012. Kevin is also certified by the NSCA as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, the NASM as a Performance Enhancement Specialist, and a Functional Movement Screening Level II specialist. After 6 years as a Division I athlete/coach, Kevin joined Explosive Performance (EP) in June of 2005, was promoted to Tysons Site Director that fall, and became overall Director of the EP athlete training program in 2009. Dr. Devon Dobrosielski is an assistant professor of Exercise Science in the Department of Kinesiology at Towson University. For over ten years he has been assessing cardiovascular function in humans in response to changes in diet and exercise; first, as a doctoral student at Louisiana State University and second, as a visiting assistant professor at Wake Forest University. Prior to his current appointment, Dr. Dobrosielski was an Instructor in the Department of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where he conducted diet and exercise clinical trials. He has secured funds through the Johns Hopkins Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center to study the impact of exercise and weight loss in older adults with obstructive sleep apnea. To date, Dr. Dobrosielski has published over 25 original research reports and over 50 scientific abstracts in top tier medical journals, including; Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, SLEEP, Atherosclerosis and the Journal of General Internal Medicine. He regularly reviews scientific manuscripts for Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise and SLEEP and has served as a scientific sessions chair at the American College of Sports Medicine annual meeting. In 2014, Dr. Dobrosielski was honored as a Junior Fellow by the Towson University Academy of Scholars to study the incidence of sleep apnea in collegiate football players. He teaches exercise physiology and research methods in exercise science and is passionate about promoting undergraduate scholarship.

Ben Fairchild is a sports performance manager in Houston, Tx, who specializes in baseball preparation.  He owns Fairchild Sports Performance, Inc., which is a 12,000 square foot boutique-style training facility, that features over 40 professional baseball clients. Ben has been in the sports performance industry for 15 years.  He has built a reputation for resurrecting the careers of aging and injured athletes.  Most notably, helping Lance Berkman win 2011 Comeback Player of the Year and return to All-Star status.  Other baseball clients include All-Stars Andy Pettitte, Mark Melancon, Anthony Rendon, and #1 overall pick Mark Appel. Dr. Lee Brown received his B.S. in physical education from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee and completed his graduate work and obtained his Ed.D. from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. While a graduate assistant, he was responsible for isokinetic performance testing specifically designed to determine human responses to high velocity training. Dr. Brown joined the faculty at Cal State Fullerton in 2002 and is the current Director of the Center for Sport Performance and the Human Performance Laboratory. Prior to coming to California, he spent two years at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas as director of the Human Performance Laboratory. Before Arkansas he was in Florida for 16 years serving as research director for an orthopaedic surgeon’s office and teaching and coaching at the public school level. He was President of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and is a Fellow of both the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the NSCA. He also served as President of the NSCA Foundation overseeing an almost four million dollar endowment. His research interests include sport performance, anaerobic assessment and high velocity neuromuscular adaptations. His recently completed studies include: limb acceleration and its generic components; physiologic responses of biosymmetrically dissimilar effectors; and the effects of different warm-up protocols on sprinting, vertical jumping, throwing velocity and baseball bat swing speed.

Born in Harare, Zimbabwe, Professor Timothy Noakes studied at the University of Cape Town (UCT), obtaining a MBChB degree and an MD and DSc (Med) in Exercise Science. He is rated an A1 scientist by the National Research Foundation of South Africa and received the Order of Mapungubwe, Silver, from the President of South Africa for his “excellent contribution in the field of sports and the science of physical exercise”. Since 2008 he has authored The Art and Science of Cricket, which he co-authored with Bob Woolmer, his autobiography entitled Challenging Beliefs: Memoirs of a Career and Waterlogged: The serious problem of overhydration in endurance sports. His latest book, The Real Meal Revolution, co-authored with Jonno Proudfoot, David Grier and Sally-Ann Creed, was launched in November 2013 and has sold over 180, 000 copies. Noakes has published more than 500 scientific publications and in 2003 received the UCT Book Award for Lore of Running (4th Edition), considered to be the “bible of the sport”. Highly acclaimed in his field and having been physically active all his life, now at 65 he still takes part in races up to 21kms.

Rick and Janie Hoole are the owners of Beachside Fitness Equipment, Inc. located in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Stu Singer has worked as the sports psychology and performance consultant for the WNBA’s Washington Mystics, University of Maryland Women’s Basketball team, Fordham University Women’s Basketball team, and the Connecticut Sun. Stu served an integral role in helping the University of Maryland Women’s basketball team reach the 2014 Final Four, and Fordham University women’s basketball in winning their first A-10 championship, receiving an NCAA tournament bid, and their best record in 20 years. Dan Charnitski is General Manager and part owner of the family business that his father began in 1976 with the invention of a hand held heart rate monitor. In 1980 his father Richard Charnitski, a mechanical engineer began design on the VersaClimber. About that time while playing football at Cal State Northridge, Dan changed majors from business to physical education with an emphasis in exercise science and in the meantime visited home occasionally to help test and build the first VersaClimber. In 1982 Dan moved back home and helped his father to start to manufacture and sell the VersaClimber. Between taking classes and finishing up his B.S Degree at Cal State Fullerton Dan drove a VW bus to deliver VersaClimber to gyms. Although Dan’s experience was in exercise science he got quick and potent on the job manufacturing and marketing training guided by his father. So, since 1982 Dan has been working up through the ranks at Heart Rate Inc. He has been involved in the development, manufacturing and marketing of several products for the health, fitness, rehab and sports training markets. And now 33 years later, Heart Rate Inc. is going strong manufacturing in the USA and consistently striving to be a positive influence in the exercise field.

Dr. Bryan Mann was hired first as a Graduate Assistant and then promoted to Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning at the University of Missouri. On top of his duties in the department of Athletic Performance, Mann is also an Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training. As an Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning, Mann is responsible for assisting with the player development program for football and baseball as well as being responsible for Missouri’s women’s soccer teams. In addition to these team duties, he is also the Director of Research and Development, as well as being the Coordinator for On-Campus Academic Relations. Prior to his arrival at the University of Missouri, Mann attended Southwest Missouri State University where he served as a student assistant as well as a Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. He assisted in the player development of football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, and volleyball. He developed the programs for field hockey, softball, men’s and women’s soccer, swimming and diving, and men’s tennis. He also trained 2004 Barbados Olympic triple jumper Greg Hughes. Mann also helped in producing some great achievements for the athletic department at SMSU. These include a Final Four appearance by women’s basketball and a College World Series appearance by baseball. Throughout high school and college, Mann was a four-time national and two-time world champion in powerlifting for the Natural Athlete’s Strength Association and was considered among the top 20 athletes in the world for his age. Mann is also an accomplished author and researcher. He has published three books, most notably “Powerlifting” which was published by Human Kinetics, and numerous journal articles. Mann is most well-known for his research on autoregulation of training with the first athlete training article ever done on the Autoregulatory Progressive Resistance Exercise (APRE) protocol as well as assessment of training improvements. Mann received his degree in Health Promotion from Missouri State University in 2003, a Graduate Certificate in Sports Management from Missouri State University in 2004, a Masters Degree in Health Education and Promotion in 2006 and his PhD in 2011. Mann is recognized as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association as well as Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified from the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.

David Sandler is the Director of Science and Education for iSatori and the President and Owner of StrengthPro Inc. He is the former Chief Operating Officer of the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Dr. Brenda Buffington competed for the University of Pittsburgh in Cross Country and Track & Field for four years.  After earning her Bachelor’s in Education at PITT, she moved on to a Master’s in Exercise Physiology at West Virginia University.  Several years later, Brenda earned a doctoral degree in Higher Education; Leadership and Instruction from Argosy University.  Dr. Buffington’s twenty-six year coaching career was spent in Cross Country and Track & Field; from Middle School through College. In addition, she has been a certified Personal Trainer or a certified Health Fitness Specialist (ACSM) for the past twenty-five years.  Currently, Brenda is the Assistant Director of the United States Air Force Academy’s Human Performance Laboratory in Colorado Springs, CO, where she recently completed a ground breaking research study titled; “An Energy Balance and COPE Intervention with Division I Female Athletes”. A research article is currently under review for publication.  As a result of this research and all of her educational and work related experience, Brenda has created a seminar presentation for athletes; What Every Female Athlete Should Know.

Greg Werner became the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at James Madison University in 1995 after working as an assistant in the program the previous three years. He received his Masters degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science from JMU (’94). He became interested in speed, strength and conditioning while earning his Bachelor’s degree in Human Performance with an emphasis in Exercise Science at Austin Peay State University (’91). In his tenure as the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at JMU, Werner has grown the program from himself and one part-time assistant working out of two weightrooms (5,000sq.ft.) for 28 sports to its impressive size now, with himself, a full-time Football Strength & Conditioning Coach, and four full-time assistants working out of five weight rooms  and a couple multi-purpose/cardio rooms with 19 teams.  In addition to directing JMU's strength & conditioning program Coach Werner is the faculty instructor for the School of Kinesiology's Concepts of Strength & Conditioning course.  Before coming to JMU Werner coached for one year at the University of The Pacific in Stockton, California, and was an assistant at Austin Peay State University for two years.  Outside of the collegiate ranks Coach Werner has instructed several NFL, MLB, Pro Basketball and Olympic athletes.  In 2006 Coach Werner received the prestigious title of Master Strength & Conditioning Coach from the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association and he was nominated by his peers to be a finalist for the NSCA's College Strength & Conditioning Professional of the Year Award.  In 2005 he received the highest honor from the National Strength & Conditioning Association and earned the Coach Practitioner distinction.  In 1999 he was selected the National Strength & Conditioning Association, Colonial Athletic Association Strength & Conditioning Professional of the Year, and was nominated for the National Professional of the year award.  Also in 1999, he was selected to be the Strength & Conditioning specialist for the US National Field Hockey team.  Werner has been active in the National Strength & Conditioning Association for several years, he served as the Virginia State Director for the maximum term, and has been an active speaker at the NSCA Sport Specific Training Conference, CSCS Symposium and several other coaches clinics and camps.  In addition to his coaching and teaching Werner has published over 30 articles in various coaching journals and magazines, and is the webmaster for this website.  Coach Werner is a National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, is Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified through the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association, an American College of Sports Medicine Certified Health/Fitness Instructor, International Sports Medicine Association Certified Sports Nutrition Consultant, as well as a Nike SPARQ Certified Trainer.

Few men have made the impact upon the areas of health, fitness, sports performance and medical rehabilitation as Dennis L. Keiser.  His innovations have changed the way athletes train, physical therapists program rehabilitation, older adults retain quality of life, and the general population stays fit. Keiser’s fascination with equipment, particularly engines, stretches back to his youth growing up on a central California farm.  It was not long after graduating from Cal Poly, SLO with a mechanical engineering degree that Keiser was hired to design the first variable resistance machines for a leading manufacturer. During the intensive study for this project, Keiser became convinced that better training options than iron existed.  A conversation with his father led him to examine the possibilities from pneumatic resistance, compressed air. Together with his younger brother Randy, Dennis Keiser formed Keiser Corporation in 1977 and in 1978 introduced the first air powered variable resistance machines for building strength and power.  In the years since, Keiser equipment has played a significant part in World Records, gold medal performances, and championships in every major sport. In 2006 Dennis Keiser revolutionized indoor fitness cycling with the introduction of a bike that relied upon magnets – eddy current – for resistance.  Since then, Keiser’s M series products have become the best-selling indoor fitness cycles in the World. Keiser has been the holder of nineteen patents for his innovations and designs.

Donnie Maib began his coaching career at the University of Colorado in 1994 where he worked with E. J. "Doc" Kreis until 1997. Coach Maib trained all varsity teams while at Colorado, where he helped many athletes obtain All-Conference as well as All-American accolades. From 1998 until the present, Coach Maib has been at the University of Texas, where he is currently the top assistant under the direction of Coach Jeff Madden. While at Texas, Coach Maib has worked with a variety of sports including, Football, Women's Track, Men's and Women's Golf, Men's Tennis, and Women's Volleyball. In 2005, with Coach Maib's support, the University of Texas football team won the National Championship in the Rose Bowl. Under his direct supervision, Women's Track won National Championships in both their indoor and outdoor seasons in 1999. Also under his direct supervision, Men's Tennis won a Big XII conference championship in 2006, and most recently, Women's Volleyball won the Big XII conference championship in 2007. Coach Maib has had the privilege of coaching numerous All-Conference, as well as All-American athletes, at the University of Texas. In football alone, while working alongside Coach Madden and Coach Mack Brown, there have been over 30 players drafted into the NFL in the past 10 years. In addition to coaching, Coach Maib is also trained in massage therapy, allowing him to assist athletes with both recovery and injury prevention. Coach Maib holds a 1st degree black belt in Kenpo Karate and has published a book and video entitled Speed-Strength Training for Martial Artists. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Donnie assists with character development classes and is often called upon to lead chapels for the football team during the season.

David Joyce is the Head of Athletic Performance at Western Force in the Southern Hemisphere's Super Rugby competition.  He holds Masters degrees in both Sports Physiotherapy and Strength and Conditioning and now lectures on the Masters of S&C course at Edith Cowan University in Perth. He was a member of the performance support teams for Team China for the London Olympics and for Team GB for the Beijing Olympics.  He has also worked at Blackburn Rovers in the English Premier League and Galatasaray in Istanbul. His first book "High Performance Training for Sports" has recently been published through Human Kinetics.

Dr. Gene Coleman has 46 years of university teaching experience including: 1) Assistant Professor and Director of the Exercise Physiology Lab at Eastern Kentucky University; 2) Associate Professor at Texas Tech University; 3) Assistant Professor at The University of Texas at Austin; and 4) Professor and Chair of Health and Exercise Science at the University of Houston – Clear Lake. Gene has 40 years of experience as a strength and conditioning coach including: 1) Three years as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for Basketball at Texas; 2) 36 years as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Houston Astros; and 3) 2 years as Strength and Conditioning Consultant for the Texas Rangers. Dr. Coleman also served as a Visiting Scientist at NASA-Johnson Space Center for 10 years working on the musculoskeletal evaluation team for Astronaut Selection. He has had several NASA grants including grants to evaluate in-flight exercise equipment, writing the Astronaut Training Manual and developing fitness programs for flight controllers. He was the first of two strength and conditioning coaches employed by MLB, the first strength and conditioning coach to work for two MLB teams in the same season (Astros and Rangers). He published the first scientific studies on physiological profiles and training responses among MLB players. He has published over 50 research articles, one book (52-Week Baseball Training), was the first recipient of the Nolan Ryan Award as the MLB Strength Coach of the Year (2004) and the first strength coach to be selected to the MLB All-Star Game staff (2012). He received the NSCA Boyd Epley Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2013.
